Terms of Use

2. The Service

Rental Buddy helps Victorian renters organise their end-of-lease move by:

• Providing indicative price estimates for end-of-lease services;
• Connecting you with vetted third-party service providers (cleaning, removalist, carpet cleaning, pest control, lawn & garden, rubbish removal);
• Generating a personalised to-do list and AI-powered insights;
• Coordinating communication between you and our team.

We currently operate in Victoria, Australia only. Service availability outside Victoria is limited and will be communicated as we expand.

3. Eligibility & account

To use the Service, you must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a legally binding contract. You agree to provide accurate, current and complete information when creating your account and to keep that information up to date.

You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for any activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at info@tryrentalbuddy.app if you suspect unauthorised access.

4. Estimates and quotes

Price estimates produced by our quick calculator are indicative only. They are based on the data you provide and aggregated market information, and may differ from the final quote provided by a third-party provider after they review your specific requirements.

A formal quote becomes binding only when you accept it through the Service or directly with the provider, on the terms set out in that quote.

5. Third-party providers

Where Rental Buddy connects you with a third-party trade or service provider, that provider supplies their services to you under their own terms and at their own risk. We make reasonable efforts to vet the providers we recommend, but we are not a party to the contract between you and the provider, and we do not warrant the quality, timeliness, or safety of work performed by them.

Any dispute arising from the provider's services should be raised with the provider in the first instance. We will help mediate where reasonable.

6. AI-powered features

Some features (including the to-do narrative, the Buddy AI review, and the contract insight summary) are generated by large-language-model AI systems. AI output may be incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading. You should treat AI output as informational only.

Important: Nothing produced by the Service constitutes legal, financial, tax, or professional advice. For specific advice about your tenancy or bond, please consult Consumer Affairs Victoria, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), or a qualified professional.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of any content you upload — including your lease agreement and any information you provide about your property ("Your Content"). You grant Rental Buddy a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, store, copy, transmit and process Your Content solely as necessary to operate the Service for you (for example, to display your to-do list back to you and to share relevant excerpts with providers).

You represent and warrant that you have the right to upload Your Content and that it does not infringe the rights of any third party.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in a way that breaches these Terms;
• Upload viruses, malware, or other malicious code;
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other users' accounts, or our infrastructure;
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the Service;
• Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm any person.

9. Fees

Using the Rental Buddy platform itself is currently free. You will pay third-party providers directly for the services they deliver to you. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will give you clear notice and obtain your consent before any charges apply.

10. Intellectual property

All intellectual property rights in the Service (other than Your Content) — including our brand, software, design, and content — remain owned by Rental Buddy or our licensors. You are granted a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

11. Disclaimer & limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, conditions and representations not expressly set out in these Terms.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Subject to non-excludable rights, our total liability to you in connection with the Service is capped at AUD $100 or the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, whichever is greater.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Rental Buddy against any loss, damage, claim, or expense (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service, except to the extent caused by our negligence or wilful misconduct.

13. Suspension & termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if continued use would create legal or security risk, or if we discontinue the Service.

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.

14. Changes to the Service or Terms

We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. Material changes to the Terms will be notified through the Service or by email. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and Rental Buddy submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria and any courts entitled to hear appeals from those courts.
